We can professionally cut laminate worktops to size, in both width and length.
By using equipment of only the highest quality, we can guarantee an accurate and perpendicular cut. Our machinery is regularly serviced to maintain the high standards of our worktop cutting service.
Worktop Edging Strip Application
Worktop edging strips need to be applied to cut edges of laminate surfaces to provide a neat finish and to protect the particle board core. Our edging strip application service takes the hassle out of worktop installation and guarantees a professional finish, leaving you with more time to sit back and enjoy your new surfaces.
Some worktops are supplied with edging strips as standard, one of which will be used when this service is chosen (so there is no need to purchase an additional edging strip). Edging strips can be applied to the width of any of our worktops (up to 900mm). Please check the worktop page to see which worktops come with edging, and how many strips.
Please note: More than one length of edging strip may be used, meaning there will be a small line visible where the strips meet.
Mason's Mitre Joint
A mason's mitre joint is the best method for joining two laminate worktops.
This style of mitre joint is also known as a butt and scribe joint or hockey stick joint, as it features a curved cut that resembles the shape of a hockey stick. Three grooves are routed on the underside of each worktop, allowing 'dog bone' worktop connector bolts (supplied) to be fitted.
This technique provides a secure join and wastes less material compared to a traditional 45° mitre joint. We recommend using a worktop sealant between the two worktops when joining to create a water-resistant seal.
Please note: 35mm will be lost from the 'female' side of the work surface on mitre joints and will need to be added to the connecting 'male' end to ensure your worktop is the correct length.
Overmounted Sink Cut-out
Cut-outs for overmounted sinks - also known as 'inset' or 'drop-in' sinks - can be routed to any size. We simply require the sink dimensions in order to create a made-to-measure aperture.
Once your worktop has been delivered, we recommend sealing the exposed edge and the rim of the sink with a clear silicone sealant.
Please ensure you're providing the cut out dimensions for your sink rather than the internal/external dimensions to ensure your sink fits as expected.
Please note: to prevent splitting, corners will need a minimum radius of 8mm.
Radius Corners
Curved worktop corners are a stylish option for a contemporary kitchen and we are pleased to be able to offer radius corners, from a minimum of 50mm to a maximum of 300mm and can only be applied to our square edge surfaces. These can be cut to suit the curve of a corner cabinet for a sleek, seamless finish in your kitchen.
Radius corners on square edge laminate worktops are perfect for creating a softer look, or for those concerned with safety around young children.
Please note: Price is per radius corner and is inclusive of the additional edging that will need to be applied as a result of this process.
Irregular Cut-out
Every kitchen has bespoke requirements and irregular cut-outs can be used to accommodate anumber of these.
Suitable for a number of different features, irregular cut-outs may be used for extractor fans, electrical sockets, extruding walls or beams, amongst other things.
Hob Cut-out
Cut-outs for built-in hobs can be made to your exact specifications; this allows us to provide hob cutouts for a wide range of brands.
We advise leaving 100mm gap between the end of the worktop and the edge of the cut-out, so that the strength and stability of the work surface is not compromised.
Please ensure you're providing the cut out dimensions for your hob rather than the internal/external dimensions to ensure your hob fits as expected.
Please note: to prevent splitting, corners will need a minimum radius of 8mm
Tap Hole Cut-out
With our efficient worktop cutting service, we can provide tap hole cut-outs to any size.
A standard tap hole diameter is 35mm, though we ask customers to verify the diameter before we create custom worktop cuts, as there are a number of different sizes on the market.
Once your tap is in situ, we recommend sealing around the base with a clear silicone sealant to prevent water ingress
Radius Ends
Please note - the following options are only available for our square edge laminate worktops:
Ideal for a breakfast bar or kitchen island, a radius end provides a perfectly rounded end on a length of laminate work surface. The price is inclusive of re-edging, for a smooth, sleek finish.
Radius ends are a stylish option for any contemporary kitchen and are a fantastic way to create something unique for your home.
Tapered Cuts
Tapered cuts are done diagonally across the surface of the worktop.
A fantastic solution for an uneven wall, a tapered cut could also be used to create a striking feature in a kitchen, as part of a breakfast bar or island. These cuts can be done between any two points on a worktop edge.
