Every dream kitchen begins with accurate measurements. Without precise dimensions, your kitchen renovation plans may stall. Fear not, as Worktop Express is here to guide you through the process. Below, you'll find a straightforward guide to measuring your kitchen space. Follow these steps, then collaborate with our skilled staff to turn your kitchen dreams into reality.
1. Sketch Your Floor Plan
Start by sketching a simple floor plan. You don't need to be an artist; a basic bird's eye view will suffice. Consider using graph paper for easier plotting. Include permanent fixtures like windows, doors (internal and external), sockets, light switches, gas pipes, water pipes, and any other fixed elements. These details will inform your kitchen layout.
2. Outline Each Wall
Next, draw each wall as if viewing them from the front. Include existing cabinets and note any sloping ceilings. These drawings will serve as reference points for taking measurements, such as ceiling heights and window dimensions.
3. Begin Measuring
Armed with a measuring tape and your sketches, start taking measurements. Begin logically, moving clockwise around the room from one corner. Record width, height, and distances between permanent fixtures, such as windows and doors. Don't forget measurements from the floor to the bottom/top of windows and ceilings.
4. Take Photos
While measurements and sketches provide valuable information, photos offer additional perspective. Use your phone to capture clear images of the room from various angles and each wall. Focus on areas of uncertainty or specific features you wish to discuss.
